Transcription: page 202-203 Silver Heights Homesteaders in the Silver Heights district in 1906.... Until the store and post office was established, Talbot was their shopping center. In 1922, Mr. and Mrs. Hasslett came to visit the latter's sister, Mrs. Bob Gilbertson. They remained to build a store and applied for a post office to be put in the store [however, they decided to return to Ontario]. Mrs. Gilbertson was the first post-mistress. .... The Aberdovery School District was organized as early as 1909 due to the persistence of Mr. Owen Evans, a homessteader of 1906....but due to lack of students it was not until 1925 that the school was built. Doors opened in the fall of 1925 with Mr. Ray Daniels as teacher. Following him were....Ella Prestlein (Mrs. Jack McLarty)....
Miss Ella Prestlein came to the Abverdovy to teach in September, 1928. Her parents had moved to the district in 1924 to farm the land belonging to her grandparents and uncles - the Gedstads - and she welcomed the chance to stay at home for a year or two.
