he was the next farmer on Midtdal søndre
Note: his baptism is recorded in Røros parish .... I'm not sure of witness names ... [26 Jan 2025] ... the record shows that the mother was 'introduserte' - 40 days after giving birth, the mother was 'interduced back to the congregation [based on the church practice, Churching of women ... see OJ's norwegian - english word list] .... 40 days was 29 Jun 1762

Note: it appears that sometime after the birth of daughter, Berit in 1791, Lars moved to the farm Midtdalen Søndre [Larsgarden, bnr 3] in Tufsingdalen. .... birth/baptism of son, Mikkel Lars Midtdal in 1793 recorded in Tolga parish

Note: I haven't found their marriage record in the Røros parish register, starting with 1889 ???? .... 1 Apr 2025
.. but their marriage is likely before 1791 - their daughter Berit's bapitism does not indicated she was born outside of marriage

.. the FT is a bit confusing, but in fact
Mikkel Larsen Midtdal (Tufsingdalen) and Berit Nilsdtr Valdal [Valdøl] has two sons by the name of Lars Mikkelsen Midtdal, with the first son dying at birth in 1761, and the second son, born in 1762 and dying in 1850 and married to Benedict Jonsdtr [and this second Lars Mikkelsen Midtdal, 1762-1850, was my 4th great grandfather]

note: there are a number of Family Trees on Ancestry .... but none provide sources and appear to have some incorrect data

- first marriage to Benediktke Jonsdtr Femundshytta (Jonasgaard) 1759-1829; [Jonasgaard was a house/farm at Femundshytta - Femunds Smelting house complex community .... added, 30 Mar 2025]
second marriage to Helle Mortensdatter Skrott, Røros, 1793-1858

Lars Mikkelsen, 1762-1850 ... 2nd marriage to Helle .... No children


3. b. Bygdebok for Engerdal, vol 2, page 213 [2nd last paragraph] ..... [basically the same on page 195 and top of 196]

Lars Mikkelsen [Midtdal, 1762-1850]* who later came to Femund cabin [smelting house complex community and built Midtdal in Tufsingdal, is probably the grandson of the Lars Mikkelsen, Tufsingdal, who testifies at the border hearings in 1741, and is then 60 years old, but born at Østgård in Dalsbygda. His son, Mikkel Larsen, is married in 1758 to Berit Nilsdatter Valdøl. We do not know if he is the same as the Mikkel Larsen who was a sawmill worker at Elgå in the 1740s.** In any case, he has descendants in several places in Engerdal, such as at Sylen, Sorken, V. Bakken near Drevsjø and other places.

* this is the first reference that indicates my 4th great-grandfather had lived for awhile at Femundshytta and likely worked at the Femund smelter hut complex. His wife was Benedike Jonsdatter Femundshytta and it is believed that she was born at Jonasgard. It is most likely that at some point with the opening the smelting hut at Femundshytta in 1743, her father Joen Pedersen, aka Joen Pedersen Feragen, had come from the Feragen district to the smelter to work, and it is believed that he had the house/farm, Jonasgard at Femundshytta.

Lars Mikkelsen Midtdal's [b 1762] father, Mikkel Larsen [b 1729] also came to the smelter and he had the house/farm Bakken at Femundshytta.

Lars married Helle Mortensdatter Skott. (Helle Mortensdatter Skott was born about 1793 in Røros, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway ⁵⁹⁷ and died about 1858 ⁵⁹⁷.)

Lars next married Benedikte Jonsdtr Femundshytta, daughter of Jon Pedersen Feragen and Karen Jonsdatter Svetdalen.²³⁴¹ (Benedikte Jonsdtr Femundshytta was born in Feb 1759 in Jonasgard, Femundshytten, Røros, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway ⁵⁹⁷, baptized on 11 Mar 1759 in Røros, Sør Trondelag, Norway,²³⁴² died on 28 Mar 1829 in Midtdalen Søndre, Tufsingdalen, Tolga, Hedmark, Norway ^597,2343 and was buried on 16 Apr 1829 in Os, Tolga, Hedmark, Norway ²³⁴³.)
