Comment by Bjørn Daniel Nergaard ..... no date when whis was posted Mikkel Ingebretsen was born on 30-05-1801 and grew up on the farm Moen nordre in Tufsingdalen (40 km south of Røros). This is the "handyman" Mikkel who in Jacob B. Bull's stories is called "Tusen-Mikkel". Mikkel was married on 11-07-1824 to Marit Olsdatter, b.1794, d.06-08-1868. Marit was nanny to the children of the priest Mathias Bull. They lived at the rectory in Øvre Rendalen until a new priest came to the village and the rectory was leased out. Then they moved to Søndre Rønningen (also called Skreddertrøen), where they later lived. After Marit died in 1868 and was buried in Øvre Rendalen, Mikkel moved back to Tufsingdalen. And this may have happened as early as 1868, judging by Bull's account. He was at least living in his childhood home at Moen Nordre at the census on 31-12-1875. And he lived there as a resident when he died on 15-10-1880. He was buried on Saturday 30-10-1880 at the nearest church, the church at Narbuvoll. Marit and Mikkel had no children. And the houses at Skreddertrøen were demolished just a few years after Mikkel left Rendalen.
