Research Notes:
Marit Larson was my 2nd cousin 4 times removed. Her direct ancestors go back to one of the earliest settlements in Tolga parish at the farm Søndmør. Her mother's father was Ole Evensen [1782-1872], also known as Ole Evensen the younger. Ole Evensen was a brother to my 4th great-grandfather, Niels Evensen Søndmør, 1768-1819. Their father was Even Bersvendsen Søndmør [1734-1795].
Marit Larson emigrated to the US in 1852, along with her parents Lars Estensen and Ingrid Olsdatter, and with her siblings: Esten, Ole, Kerstin, and Sigrud.
Marit Larson was married to Tollef Nelson on 29 May 1861 in Fillmore Co, MN. Around 1868, Tollef and Marit moved to the homestead in Tumili Twp, Otter Tail Co, MN.
Marit Larson and Tollef Nelson had 11 children, with 2 children dying in infancy.
Note: I have not searched in any detail Marit and Tollef's children - much more research is needed. But one son was Nels b 26 May 1866 and he eventually became a MN State Senator and various other roles in Fergus Falls. He was the editor of the Fergus Falls Ugeblad, a Norwegian language newspaper, from 1914-1929.
