NOTE: On the 1906 Canada Prairie Provinces census: the spelling of the surname Bengtson is difficult to make out.
It looks a bit like Benter or even Baster, BUT I think it is "Bentsn" - obviously the enumerator had a hard time with it. But first names and
ages correspond to the family. The surname Backstrom is not evident.

It appears that the Bengt Backstrom and a number of his children and their families came to the same area.
Bengt homesteaded on the NE Sect 28, Twp 38, Range 20, W4th [a bit south and west of Stettler and south and east
of Erskine]. I have not searched the homestead records for the children, but the Section and Twp is noted in the
1906 census.

** note some FTs on ancestry record a child, Albert Backstrom, b abt Aug 1876 in ND and seems to reference th 1911 Canada Census; BUT they have misread the year even though the 3rd digit is faded and at a glance looks like "7", but using the "invert colors" function, it is clearer. The year is 1896. It is likely that his birth name was Albert, but he was referred to on many records as "Bert"

*Ross/Runquist ... FT - records that Wilfred (William) J A Clark was born in 1911 at Kanata, AB. I found an
incorporated place name for Kanata in the County of Stetter - maybe a km northeast of the junction of AB Hwy
601 and 835; #835 ends at Rochan Sands Park on the southern shore of Buffalo Lake

** on findagrave there is someone with an id of "ColinC" who has added some comments and at time photos on various
findagrave memorials. Click on his name and there is short bio.

Researching: Backstrom from Sweden to Minnisota, North Dakota then Stettler Alberta. Smith, Babcock, Crandall, Maxson,
Furrow from Rhode Island to Illinois. .... [and a number of others]. He is likely related

* RE: Roy Backstrom - location of death is from Ross/Runquist ... FT. Roy had taken out a homestead entry on
5 Aug 1911 on SE Sec 13, Twp 33, Range 5 - this is about 15 kms south west of Consort. But he then
completed a form for abandonment on 5 May 1912.
None of the FTs give a date of his death, but obviously after May 1912. Findagrave, id 82973355, only records the
year of 1912 - Lake View Cemetery, Stettler
