"Merchant is Dead by his own hand" article - had taken his own life by hanging - he had conducted a general mercantile business in the village for the past 4 yrs - Moody and Erickson - he was honored and respected by all - apparently he had left a note, written in Swedish with English translation: "you must excuse, my time has ended. I have suffered for over 25 yrs with rheumatisn, but now with something else that no one can cure. I do not like to go to the insane asylum and therefore I prefer death. I have feared the worst for some time, at times have felt better and entertained hopes of recover but in place, became worst. Do the best. I blame no one for my foolishness, done all from begining to end."
And OBIT: died 18 Mar 1907 - was born in Lekvattnet on Dec 24, 1856, and came to this country at the age of almost 20 years. - initially at Cokato then went to Minneapolis and worked at a sawmill. He was injuried and this injury affected him in the later years. - was a resident of Grass Lake where he was married to his suviving wife in 1887 [?] - 4 yrs ago he entered in partnership with Emil Moody and he conducted the buiness since Mr Moody was on other callings. - he leaves his wife, a daughter, Edith and Karna and a son, Lawrence; a brother James N Erikson, of Grass Lake and a sister, Mrs Karelius Nels of White Rock, SD. His father died in Sweden several years ago and his mother died about a year ago - interment at Stockholm
