Jöns Erickson

  Research Notes:

Brief Summary: Jöns Erickson (b 1834) and Kajsa Johansdotter (b 1829). Jöns, Kajsa, and all children left Fäbacken, Lekvattnet parish for North America on 15 Apr 1865. They settled in Stockholm Twp, Wright Co, MN and farmed on section 14, on homestead land. The US land records has his name as John Erickson.

A number of Jöns brothers and sisters had also emigrated to the Stockholm Twp area. His older brother was also named Jons (in some records named, James, but he was born in 1818. His wife was Kajsa Halstensdotter. It is easy to confuse these 2 brothers.

Jöns (b 1834) and Kajsa Johansotter had 8 children. The 3 youngest died at a young age.

30 April 2022. The marriage of Jöns Erickson (b 1834) and Kajsa Johansdotter (b 1829) created a "double family relationship". Jöns Erickson was my 4th cousin, 6 times removed. Jöns Erickson (b 1834) ancestors go back to one of the earliest family settlers in Fäbacken - the Finnish Family Name of "Porkka". Initial records were within Fryskände parish and then around 1850, in Lekvattnet. My 8th great grandfather was Lars Matsson Porkka (1635-1671). His brother was Erik Matsson Porkka (1655/1663-1753) and was my 8th granduncle.

NOTE: On my Legacy data, I have used the surname Erickson for Jon's family. However the children's patronymic name should have been Jönsson or Jönsdotter.

Jöns married Kajsa Jonsdotter, daughter of Johan Persson and Annika Ersdotter, on 25 Mar 1856 in Lekvattnet, Värmland län, Sweden.⁹⁰¹⁰ (Kajsa Jonsdotter was born on 6 Mar 1829 in Östmark, Värmland län, Sweden, died on 9 Mar 1902 in Stockholm Twp, Wright Co, Minnesota, United States ⁹⁰¹¹ and was buried in Stockholm Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wright Co, Minnestoa, United States.)
