SK Homestead, file 2125099; he took homestead on a previous cancellation; SE Sec 1, Twp 21, Range 11, W3
image 361 - sworn statesment by Herman Heft re; apply for patent
- entry - 24 Mar 1911
- question 5 - when not on homestead, where? - North Dakota, farming
image 366 - patent approved
- somewhat similar to his brother Edward, Herman had received grain and fodder advance that became a lean on his homestead quarter as well as back taxes. But with poor crops etc, he hadn't been able to pay. Image 389 indicates that he had left the homestead around 1921. In 1924 the homestead was sold to pay back taxes. There is a letter on 11 Apr 1930 with his address as 1392 John St in North Battleford; there also an indication that he lived for a few years in Prince Albert (1925) and/or St Warberg which is about 100+ kms north of North Battleford.
