3. SK Homestead file, 2179177, SE Sec 2, Twp 21, Range 11, W3 images on Familysearch "SK Provincial Records"
Images start: 998 - application on 1 Jul 1911 with his address as Herbert SK - but then images 1006-1009, ask for an extension to time (granted extension to 1 May 1912; a note from Edward and from a doctor that Edward has been "laid up with Rheumatism" in the fall of 1911 - Eward received a patent, 15 Oct 1915, along with some sworn statements (image 1023 for a few pages) - the above file is over 100+ images most of the pages are due to "a lien from grain and fodder advances" - in fact it appears that with interest the cost increase to almost $800 by Aug 1932. It is not clear, but it appears there was an appeal to the Minister of Interior and a re-adjustment to $640 due. It is also isn't clear but it appears that around 1932 the quarter was sold or the indebtness was taken over by someone from Beechy, SK and later by another person. Not clear what happened to Edward, since around image 1135, Edward is no longer mentioned - although it appears that the land continued to have the seed and grain advance lean and a lean on some back taxes, and letters etc going on page after page, with the last image 1264 with a letter dated 12 Nov 1957. Again it appears that an order-in-council by the Government of Canada, cancelling the debt and accepting a loss.
- there is one other image (1093) and it is on a Homestead Inspector's report of 30 Jun 1926. The inspector had gone to the home but Edward was not at home. The inspector made a few comments, "..he is living there...land is rented....Heft himself is an invalid and unable to work ... there is a large family..." 8960
Edward married Anna Dyck. (Anna Dyck was born on 18 Nov 1894 in Herbert, Saskatchewan, Canada and died on 14 Feb 1963 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada.)
