Nils was born in Fryksände parish. The spelling of his patronymic name is uncertain. However, the most likely spelling is "Jönsson" since this is the most common spelling and a common spelling of a given name (Jöns). However, in the parish record, it almost appears to be "Jånsson" - this is unlikely since the given name of Jån is not common in Sweden (it is most common in Denmark). I have come across a few times regarding the uncertainity of the second letter of the patronymic name: "ö" versus "ä or å", and sometimes the handwriting is hard to decifer the differences.

I have chosen to use the more common spelling, that is, "Jönsson"

Two Ancestry FT's record his birth as 1796 at Östmark parish and that he died in 1831 in Östmark. However I have not been able to verify is birth/death dates and location by reviewing births or deaths in either Östmark or Fryksände parish records
