Ancestry records a number of record pages for his "location" , but not much more

- 16 Jul 1940 enlisted Minneapolis; and to Penscola Naval Air Station on 30 Oct 1940
31 Oct 1940 to 30 Dec 1941 - at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Florida; various "ranks" AS, AMM3c, Sea 2C
then, 10 Jul 1944 on board the USS Orizaba sailing from San Francisco to Fray [I can't find this location; must be specific to the navy; rank ACMM

- findagrave has the phrase "ARDC US Navy" World War II ; general google search for "ARDC" suggests, "Auxiliary Repair Dock" [C - center?]

she returned to the west coast in March 1944, only to leave again for another Central Pacific run. Back at San Francisco in June, she underwent repairs; completed a run to the Marshalls and Marianas; and then sailed north to the Aleutians.
