Minerva Pearl Bedore

Brief Summary: Minerva Pearl Bedore was born in a small town called Deseronto, Hastings Co, Ontario [about 20+ kms west of Kingston ON]. Her birth was on 24 Sept 1906 and her parents were William Samuel Bedore [1879-1963] and Mary Evelina Schryver [1884-1954] from Harlowe, Frontenac County, ON.

Sometime in the 1910s the family moved to the area of Terrace in Bristish Columbia [see 1921 Canada census]. In 1924 Minerva married Melvin Prestlien at Prince George. BC - her address was recorded as Newlands, according to the marriage announcement in the Prince George Newspaper. Melvin and Minerva continued to live on the homestead land that Melvin had staked as early as 1911-1912 - this was on the north shore of Eaglet Lake [Eagle Lake] north east of Giscombe, BC [about 40 kms north east of Prince George]. Melvin and Minerva had 6 children, all born in the Giscombe area. Sometime in the early 1940s, the family moved to Vancouver - the exact date of the family move is not known. But may have moved as early as 1939.

Sometime between 1960 and 1963, Melvin Prestlien and Minerva were divorced. I do not have an exact date, but in 1962 Melvin appears to be living on his own in Nanaimo [voter-list]. In an obituary for Minerva's father, William Samuel Bedore, who had died in Dec 1963 [obit is posted on findagrave, but without a source citiation; however, his obit is from the Kamloops Daily Sentinel issue of 30 Dec 1963, page A03 - the image of the obituary is a bit poor, but clearly notes his death and that he is survived by one daughter, Mrs M Hull of Kamloops].

After some research, I found that Minerva's parents were William and Mary Bedore. This is based on the ancestry FTs as indicated below in point 2. Her family is recorded in the 1921 Census in the Terrace area of BC. It appears that after 1921, the family moved to the area around Giscome, BC. Minerva and Melvin's wedding record notes that she lived at Newlands [this area is about 10 kms east of Giscome].

Minerva's death is noted as 20 Jun 1979 [see point 1].

- after numerous searches for Minerva Pearl Prestlien using Ancestry, the above 2 FTs give some information.
But then I found a FamilyTree on FamilySearch; ID G764-CRS for Melvin Prestlien and for Minerva Pearl Bedore [familyseach id, GHQ1-DZM]
- the familysearch FT, records Minerva married to Melvin Prestlien in 1924 and then also shows that she remarried
to Richard Gordon Hull - however no birth/death date for R Hull [but see his obit], nor is there a marriage date [not on Ancestry collection]

- then using Minerva Hull I found an obituary in "The Province" [Vancouver BC], issue 11 Jul 1979, page 25 [PC folder, Melvin Prestlien]
- Minerva died 20 Jun 1979, age 72 years. She is survived by her husband, Richard. 4 daughters, Mrs Louis Harris from Toronto, Mrs Evelyn Lee, Nanaimo, Mrs Sylvia Kavin [should be Cavin], and Mrs Florence Lundgren. And 2 sons, Vance and Curtis Hull [most likely they are Richard's sons from a previous marriage];
- address as 1955 Nelson St; interment at Ocean View Burial Park [findagrave id, 242925474]
