Do you know anything more about your grandmother's foster family? Our Tippoldemor [great-grandmother], Ragnhild Persdatter, had two brothers who emigrated to Loos: Torgal f. 1836 and Per f. I guess 1848. Persen went by Persson over there. Tippoldemors niece, Gurine, f. 1867, was married to Anton Persson from Loos and her brother, Olaf, emigrated also there. So we have a lot of distant kin from there. The relatives of Loos went to be prosperous. I've been to the cemetery, looking at the graves of torgal and per.

Ragnhild Persdatter (1841-1921) was married twice (1st to Torgal Persen Lordalen - Torgals, who died
in 1865) and second marriage to Børre Børresen [Bakken] (1837-1927)
- her brothers, Torgal Persen Skaaret (1836-1930; moved to Los, Sweden; along with another brother,
Per Persen Skaaret (1848-1913; he did not use the Skaaret name in Sweden)
- another brother was Ole Persen Skaaret (1834-1913) the father of 'our' Ole Olsen Skaaret b 1862

- Ragnhild Persdatter Skaaret's nephews, Olaf [and Ole]; niece Gurine

From Sidsel Rønningen: Hi Rueben. This is great - the world is small! Ragnhild Persdatter (1841-1921) and her first husband were my second great grandparents. We are in other words fourth cousins on my grandmother Ragnhild Paulsens side. Her husband Ole Paulsen's grandmother Marte Moldberget was the sister of our common third great grandmother Ellen Torgalsdatter Skaaret. So on this side I'm your mother or father's fourth cousin. Love from Sidsel in Oslo/Norway.

Ragnhild Persdatter (1841-1921) mother, Ellen Torgalsdatter Vestby (1807-1882) had a sister, Marte Moldberget whose descendents include -- see part c and further to point 2

From Sidsel Rønningen: Hi again Rueben. Marte Moldberget's son Anders Engemoen emigrated to MN/USA. His son Emil (Ole Olsen's second cousin) also moved to Alberta. Do you know anything about this family? I found on the internet that Emil's son Donald Eugene lost his life in Second World War at the age of 19. [ from findagrave, etc, from the Lethbridge area ];

My grandparents, Ragnhild and Ole Paulsen, outside his cafe at Opshaug (later Sion)* in Lørdalen ca. 1928. The children are the son " Pållemann " (Paul Olav) and the nephew " Pelle " (Per Gustav Kvernbekk).

using google maps this is only about 500 m north of the Ljørdalen church. It is across the road/street from a school; on google maps, it looks like a 2 story house and has a neon sign above the door "Sion" . Google image capture on May 2010
