Tolga - Gards og Slektshistorie, page 595-597 ; Vestgård Østre, gnr 84, bnr 1

Basic/literal Translation by Rueben Grue, 18 May 2015

The farm Vestgård, east and south, had farm users in the 1738 land assessment. But the first clearing of land had begun in 1720's on Vestgård eastern. The land was cleared by Jens Arnesen, born 1692 died 1736. He was married to Anne Andersdatter, born 1699 died 1768.

Nothing is indicated in the church-books on these surnames, [so] one can not be sure where they were from, but perhaps one could assume they were from the Os parish. One finds at the garden Løvnesset in Os, Arne Halvorsen listed as the farm user around 1700, but one can't absolutely determine that this Jens Arnesen was his son.

Under Malmåsen in Kåsa one also finds Jens Arnesen, but here there is almost 60 years difference in age so there is no comparison. Jens and Anne had children: Arne born in 1726, Anders born 1730, Jens born 1734. Jens Arnesen (born 1692) died at 44 years old in 1736. It is possible that his son Arne Jensen had son named Jens Arnesen born 1720, and it must be this [Jens] who came to Malmåsen in Kåsa.

The widow Anne Andersdatter remarried in 1738 to Ellef Siverstsen from Vestgård western, see Ellefsplass. The other two sons of the first marriage, Anders and Jens [Jensønner ?] disappear from Øversjødalen.

Ole Andersen comes as a new user on Vestgård eastern. He is possibly a brother of Anne Andersdatter. He died in 1752, and was married to Ingeborg Jacobsdatter. They had a total of 8 children. It is only mentioned Anders and daughter Ågot who married Mathis Rasmussen Narbuvoll, drowned in a stream/creek, at 70 years old¹.

Ole Andersen's son, Anders Olsen was born in 1725. He was married to Ingeborg Svensdatter, supposedly from Østvang in Vingelen, born in 1719. One must assume that both Anne Andersdatter and Berit Jakobsdatter were from Vingelen, the latter possibly a daughter of Jacob Andersen Nordvangen. It is said that Anders Olsen left (rømte) his wife [that is, Ingeborg Svensdatter]². Anders Olsen, born 1725 and Ingeborg Svensdatter had a son named Ole Andersen who was born in 1760 and died in 1837. He was married in 1782 to Kirsti Olsdatter Orvøyen, born 1761 and died 1830. Their children were: Anders, born 1783; Ole born 1789 was married to Kirsti Nilsdatter Søndmør, see Røstbakken; Svend, born 1799³ [1797] and was married to Kari Nilsdatter Søndmør, see Sjurshaugen; Lars born 1801; Ingrid born 1787, married to Ingulf Sagen.

It is said that when Ole Andersen [the 'second' Ole Andersen, 1760-1837] died, the lease on Vestgård eastern went to Ole's brother in law, Halsten Olsen Narjordet. But the use of the farm in 1801 was with Ole's son, Anders(4).
Anders [born in 1783; son of Ole Andersen, the second, 1760-1837] was married to Anne Pedersdatter from Mattisgarden Narbuvoll. She was born in 1781. These two died and were buried together in 1831(5). They had son, Ole Andersen [the 'third'] born 1807(6) and died 1848. He was married in 1840 to Berit Ingulfsdatter Midtdal, born in 1800 and died in 1885. Ole Andersen (1808-1848] and Berit had a daughter, Anne Olsdtr (1842-1911) who was married to Ole Torbergsen Bakken in 1863. Anne and Ole Torbersgen [who took the surname Vestgård] continued with the farm Vestård østre. They had a son named Anders Olsen Vestgård (1877 - ). They also had a daughter, Berit born 1866 and died 1953 who was married to Nils Olsen Sundet from Engerdal (1863-1949). Another daughter, Maria was born in 1872 and died 1962. She had a daughter with Halstein Hodøl from Tufsingdalen (they were not married) named Anna who was born 1904. Anna was married to Håkon Jonsen Jordet, see Lund(7).

Anders Olsen Vestgård born 1877 is the third person named Anders Olsen Vestgård. He [ Anders Olsen Vestgård, 1877 - ] was married in 1906 to Gunhild Olsdatter Drevsjø. They had a son named Ola Andersen Vestgård (1906-1940) who was married in 1934 to Jorun Jakobsdatter Øien. Their son, Ola Juel Ansgar Vestgård (1939 - ) is the current farmer for Vestgård østre, as of the writing of the book in 1968.

Footnotes:
(¹) See my Legacy database for recording of 8 children of Ole Andersen and Ingeborg Jacobsdatter. Norway's Digitalarkivet has scanned Probate Documents - I have reviewed Ole Andersen's probate record where 8 children are recorded.
(²) It is not clear what the significance of this is. It appears that sometime after the birth of the children, he left. But where he went to is unknown. I have not been able to determine a date of death for this Anders Olsen, born 1725.
(³) According to the Norway Parish Registers (transcribed by Marie Tollan), Svend Olsen's birth was in 1797, not 1799. The birth year of 1797 corresponds with other family data for Svend Olsen.
(4) The 1801 Norway Census does not list a person by the name of Anders as a "bruker" or user of a farm; there is a person named Anders Olsen, age 18 (born 1783) as a servant on the farm used by Ole Estensen, farm #161.
(5) I have not been able to find their death record in the Norway Parish Registers for the years 1830-1832 , either in Tolga Ministerialbok or Klokkerbok or the Os Klokkerbok.
(6) The Norway Parish Registers, records his baptism on 17 Jul 1808, with his father as Anders Olsen and mother as Anne Pedersdatter, with the residence of parents recorded as Vestgaard.
(7) The next sentence is confusing. It appears to be saying that there was a "violation" of Ole Torbergsen's desendant line due to the illegitimate birth of Marie's child Anna. The original Norwegian sentence is, "Det ble her brudd på manslinjen med Ole Torbergsen som ble inngiftet med Ann Olsdatter." 218
