It looks like John B Kalla had posted on the geni.com FT a summary: "From the Rosten Genealogy by John Midtdal" ... I'm not sure if John Midtdal had written this or if it was extracted from John Midtdal's work/books.

... it is an interesting account of Amund A Røsten ... apparently he donated money to support the Tolga Parish and he apparently had returned to Norway at least a couple of times. Although the above doesn't explicity mention that Amund A Rosten may also have encouraged others to go the US.
.. emigrated from Norway in 1871, and came to Rushford, MN, where they lived for one year. Moved from there to Blue Earth County, MN, where they leased a farm for four years. Came to Minnehaha County, Dakota Territory in 1876 and took homestead in Section 11 of Benton Township where they lived until their deaths.
.. apparently he also had a relationship before marriage with Gjertrud Kartine Eriksdaugther Kvilvang, born 25 Sept. 1825. They had a son, Amund born 25 August 1857, died 4 August 1939 who lived at the Røsten farm in Tolga parish.

BUT ..... for my family relationship, I had found a passenger list for Amund A Røsten and a number of others, including a cousin of mine, Mikkel Iversen Bakken , arriving in New York, 21 Oct 1902 .... see Mikkel's page

Amund married Margret Pedersdatter Jonasgaard. (Margret Pedersdatter Jonasgaard was born on 8 Jun 1839 in Røros, Sør Trondelag, Norway and died on 29 Jul 1912 in Benton Twp, Minnehaha Co, South Dakota.)
